During WWII Norsk Hydro’s heavy water production at Vemork was an important part of the Nazi’s nuclear project. The Allied forces decided to destroy the production and in total four military operations were launched against the facility.
In this exhibit, on the second floor of the museum, you will find a presentation of the saboteurs that partook in the famous operation where everything went according to plan. But the exhibition will also show you the soldiers who participated in the first heavy water raid, Operation Freshman, which ended in tragedy.
